Included in our array of solid-state characterisation techniques, we offer Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). Both techniques are used extensively for drug substance physical form assessments, with respect to determination of crystalline and amorphous components.
Applications include salt selection and polymorph screening, with a view to selecting the optimal salt form for development purposes or determination of relative thermodynamic stability of different physical forms.
DSC is frequently used for polymorph or amorphous form quantification, and variants such as modulated DSC may be implemented if required. The technique also has applications in material purity determination, and excipient compatibility as part of formulation development studies
